Sun

Sun, originally uploaded by ccgd.

All of a sudden winter seems be here, with the hills around the
Cromarty Firth salt and pepper with specks of snow, and the higher
peaks gleaming white in the morning sun.

Walking along the beach this morning was a bracing affair, with a
gusty north wind spreading the smells of the town’s fires far and
wide. Coal, wood and Peat smoke laced with firelighter paraffin all
combine with the odours of sea and chill to produce a smell that can
only be a Highland town at the start of the day.

We realised that we had not been to Cromarty for just over a year so rushed up on Saturday after work and had a couple of nights in Scotland. We visited Cromarty on Sunday afternoon and spotted Calum and Ruth walking down the road from the South Sutor, just above The Stables - We agree with Calum, certainly with the frosts and snow on the mountains this weekend felt like the start of Winter rather than the end of Summer - Amazing autumn colours to be seen on our 800 mile round trip!
