Archie Patterson 1880

Archie Patterson 1880, originally uploaded by ccgd.

My GGG Grandfather, in a photo taken later in his life. He had served with the Sutherland Highlanders (93rd Regiment) in the Crimea in the 1850's (including the famous "Thin Red Line" battle), and then in the Indian Mutiny, hence all the medals. This is a scan of a print of a scan, but has a nice sepia feel.

These medals can be seen in the Regimental Museum of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders in Stirling Castle, Scotland.

See http://www.flickr.com/photos/ccgd/62901567/ for a photo of his medals.
